Saint Valentine is, among other things, the Patron Saint of engaged couples, happy marriages, love and lovers. A completely accurate history of Saint Valentine is not known but one story holds that he lived during the 3rd century when it was illegal to be a Christian under the rule of Claudius II. Since he would not renounce his faith after having been found performing marriages of Christian couples and helping other Christians that were being persecuted, he was jailed, tortured and beheaded, thus earning him a role throughout eternity assisting lovers as their Patron Saint.
